Valid is searching for a Mechanical Designer who is responsible for the maintenance and support of existing product lines and over time will be responsible for the design and development of new products. Responsibilities:

  • Supports existing product lines and modifies products according to customer’s specific needs.
  • Develops new product variants ensuring that designs are as cost effective as possible.
  • Communicates regularly with manufacturing.
  • Production and maintenance of all fabrication drawings.
  • Ensures accuracy of bill of materials and fabrication procedures.
  • Gains knowledge of manufacturing processes to support decision making.

  • Must have competent computer skills with MS Office products.
  • Experience in the design of weldments, machined parts and sheet metal parts an asset.
  • Experience in relative costing of various manufacturing processes an asset.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Human Resources

  • Leads full-cycle recruitment processes, including creating job advertisements, collecting resumes, candidate screening, and interviewing.
  • Leads new employee hiring, onboarding and training initiatives.
  • Promotes positive employee relations and a respectful workplace culture.
  • Provides guidance and support to operations and managers on HR policies, best practices, and employment standards.
  • Coordinates benefit administration and employee recordkeeping with the payroll administrator.
  • Supports managers with conflict resolution and performance management
  • Develops, updates and communicates programs, policies and processes relating to employee relations, health and safety, wellness, and other HR needs.
  • Stays up to date with legislation (BC Employment Standards, Personal Information & Protection Act, Workers Compensation Act and BC Human Rights Act).
  • In collaboration with the Controller, conducts internal reviews of compensation and job duties for both internal consistency as well as external market comparison and equity.
  • Leads internal HR initiatives and projects.

 

Finance

  • Provides hands-on support for various Finance roles, including AR, AP, payroll and Work Order processing.
  • Provides support in the preparation of monthly reports and tasks for financial, HR or administrative requirements.
  • Supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.

 

Administration Support

  • Provides general administrative support across departments.
  • Maintains accurate records, reports, and documentation.
  • Assists with scheduling, correspondence and company-wide communications.

 

This position requires:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of HR generalist experience.
  • Solid understanding of finance/accounting principles, and a minimum of 2 years of experience with bookkeeping or financial support tasks is required. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to maintain a strong perception of confidentiality while serving as a positive, enthusiastic and independent advisor for staff and managers.
  • Experience in manufacturing using an ERP/MRP system would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with expertise in Excel.
  • Above average communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

The Electronics Assembler will perform assembly of electronic and mechanical assemblies, including wiring harnesses and air manifolds, according to specifications under the supervision and direction of the Electronics Production Supervisor.

  • Safe handling of electronic components and assemblies.

  • Review’s test results and deals with non-conforming products as needed.
  • Incoming inspection and testing of purchased components to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Tests Valid manufactured items to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Uses computerized testing equipment in performance of duties.
  • Uses hand and power tools such as screw drivers, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, and cordless drills etc.
  • Material handling tasks including picking parts and inventory counts.
  • Provides assistance and support to senior staff working as part of a team. Works with general supervision and is responsible for ensuring quality of assigned work.

 

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read assembly drawings required for the electrical, mechanical and pneumatic assembly of a wide variety of Valid products.
  • Should be able to identify, configure, record and track a variety of assemblies and their component parts through all stages of product life cycle.
  • Ability to identify components and assemblies by part number, type, function, size and color.
  • Ability to repetitively perform high quality work paying attention to details.
  • Work requires the ability to organize and prioritize work for best efficiency with limited or general supervision.
  • Experience with schematics and electronic circuit trouble shooting is an asset.
  • Employees should be computer literate and able to use custom in-house software, label printing software and Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Access.
  • Willingness to contribute and participate as part of the team. Shows initiative.
  • Strong organizational ability, good interpersonal and communication skills.

The Position:

The Materials and Logistics Coordinator role coordinates and monitors the movement of products and ensures supplies, materials and products are shipped and received on schedule based on a busy manufacturing operation. Serve as an internal resource on international trade, customs compliance, and logistics best practices.

Prepares and processes all customs documents for International & U.S. shipments. The Materials and Logistics Coordinator develops and maintains lasting relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external, to build a resilient network. Assign Harmonized System (HS) codes to products and determine applicable duties and tariffs based on destination country regulations and product classification.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and plan the most appropriate route for a shipment while considering such factors as fragility, size, shape, quantity, cost, transit time, security, destination and required dates
  • Negotiate with shipping and logistics vendors to ensure the cost effectiveness of shipments
  • Resolve damage claims with vendors and ensure all necessary follow-up is completed
  • Prepare shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, customs declarations, and other required paperwork with accuracy and completeness
  • Assign Harmonized System (HS) codes to products and determine applicable duties and tariffs based on destination country regulations and product classification
  • Ensure compliance with all customs documentation and trade regulations, maintaining current knowledge of legislation and tariff schedules that affect Valid’s supply chain
  • Liaise with third parties to move goods in accordance with customer or supplier requirements
  • Work closely with customers, suppliers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth delivery operations to deadlines
  • Serve as an internal resource on international trade, customs compliance, and logistics best practices

  • A customer service focused attitude with the ability to remain calm and tactful in stressful situations.

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in transportation and logistics is required. A working knowledge of export regulations, procedures and documentation is required.
    • Experience preparing commercial invoices and related customs documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Experience obtaining necessary permits for shipments, including oversized or special loads, as required by jurisdictional authorities.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess a certificate or diploma in a related field. Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), equivalent certification, or current enrollment in a relevant Customs, Shipping, or Brokerage program with applicable experience is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
